A 60-year-old COVID-19 patient from Baramulla district diedat a hospital in Srinagar on Tuesday, taking the fatality count due to thevirus in Jammu and Kashmir to 189.
A resident of Nadihal area of the north Kashmir district,the sexagenarian man died at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences(SKIMS), Soura, nine days after he was admitted to the tertiary care hospital.
“He was a case ofHTN, T2DM, CKD, ESRD, (bilateral community acquired pneumonia (CAP),” ProfessorFarooq Jan, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, told a local news agency,GNS. “He expired at around 4:00 a.m. today.”
With his death, 172 people in Kashmir and 17 in Jammu havedied so far due to the COVID-19.
Srinagar district with 46 deaths has the highest fatalitiesfollowed by Baramulla (36), Kulgam (21), Shopian (16), Anantnag (14), Budgam(14), Jammu (10), Kupwara (11), Pulwama (6), Bandipora (3), Ganderbal (4) andDoda (2) while one death each has been reported from Poonch, Udhampur, Rajouriand Kathua.
